SWREDA’s 2017 annual conference on July 26-28 in Baton Rouge was titled Navigating the New Norm since it focused on changing trends in economic development. Sessions planned included workforce development using apprenticeship programs, global business opportunities through inland and water ports, cybersecurity for businesses and cloud-based applications for EDDs, and a look at how to how to develop a food industry cluster. The Economic Development Administration (EDA) Austin staff hosted Grants On-Line and EDA 101 sessions. The group heard from some of the Regional Innovation Strategy projects, and included this year’s Emerging Leader class on a panel.
SWREDA, funded by the EDA, partnered with NADO Research Foundation for the annual conference as well as the new Emerging Leaders Training.
